The majority of my adult life I have been involved in the building industry, my job has enabled me to experience both working in an office environment and also out on site. I have enjoyed both working alone and as part of a team. During my time I have experienced how to oversee the day to day running of a company, many of my daily tasks in the office environment included, dealing with clients via calls, emails, pricing of jobs and dealing with quantities, invoicing and accounts, wages, paying bills and also recruiting. Whilst working out on site I have learned how to be a labourer, providing all the necessary materials in the correct locations and the day to day work of maintaining the area we work in before, during and after a days work. This is where I was also taught to set brick, block, stone and features as a bricklayer. My most recent role at Beesley and Fildes I have excelled in customer service and in such a short time become a stand in foreman for when the current foreman is absent. The manager has recently asked me to move into the shop to help increase sales and to improve the day to day running of the shop floor.
As a drive through operative I serve customers with a friendly and professional approach. I pick, load and prepare orders safely and accurately. Which also includes the accurate measuring and cutting of timber products using both a cross cutter and a wall saw for sheet materials such as MDF and plywood.
I advise customers on all products, sizes and availability.
Checking stock levels and supporting stock rotation on a daily basis.
I work closely with the yard, sales and transport teams, to ensure operations run smoothly and ensure deliveries go out correctly and on time.
In the twelve months I have been working in the drive through, I have stood in as foreman when our current foreman is absent, to ensure the smooth running of both drive through's and its staff.
Also during these twelve months I have successfully passed my counterbalance fork lift truck licence and my side loading combi fork lift truck licence.
Whilst working as a labourer with other bricklayers, I was trained and taught to carry out the job as a bricklayer. Setting brick, block and stone, as well as features. Setting out buildings and the reading of working drawings. I have successfully built numerous homes all over the North West. Whilst continuing to provide labouring skills for myself and another bricklayer with all materials needed for the job.
