Summary

I have a plethora of experience and training within education, through one of my roles as a Teaching Assistant Level 3 working in the MCN hub within a Secondary School environment. I have been accredited my NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification and would like to further my academic career by applying for further study in the future. I see this as an important step in my personal development. I believe this variety of experiences has enabled me to build positive and empathic relationships with students and staff alike.

Within all the roles I have to undertake it has been necessary for me to communicate with individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds backgrounds and positions. positions. My role is often an interface interface between between school, school, the students students and the parents parents and I am required to frequently correspond between these groups, with respect to both progress and ensuring good behavioral standards. Through working closely with parents and outside agencies, I have been able to track and disseminate information about student’s individual progress, ensuring the student has up to date and relevant data. I also attend annual reviews and help with target setting giving me secure and knowledgeable information about each student I work with. I also insist on up-to-date medical training for the students I support, this is often done through training sessions within school. I feel that this is an integral part of my role as safety and security of students that I support is paramount. I also feel it is important to have a personnel emotional and physical well-being, that is why I regularly part-take in exercise such as running, Zumba and circuit Training. These exercises keep me fit, healthy and focused: a must in the job that I do. My role as Teaching Assistant working in the MCN Hub includes supporting of SEN students through the National Curriculum.

I was a well respected and liked member of the Birley Academy team and the positive skills and likable personality and good sense of humor that I have, I believe are transferable to any role I undertake. I am always looking at ways to improve myself by looking at various courses and training in other areas. I feel that I am ready for new challenges that will enable me to progress and expand my already considerable experience working with young people. I consider myself to have an ability to work effectively as part of a team, developing strong relationships with others and assisting other team members as necessary to achieve.

My role as a Support Worker at Fenney Lodge shows that my skills I have accumulated through my roles is adaptable to any situation and job. Currently I promote and enable people with learning disabilities and complex care needs to live the life they choose and making sure their support is at the centre of everything we do, we give support to eight younger adults with learning disabilities and associated physical disabilities. The care we give is person centre care to promote individual choices. We promote everyday tasks like helping with dressing, cooking, washing pots and also enjoyable tasks like Arts and Crafts. within the role of Prison Custody Officer I gained experience within the justice system also

working in a court environment as part of a team to make sure all those in custody are safe, looked after and arrive in the court dock on time. I am also responsible for the physical and mental wellbeing of those in our care using the skills and tools I am provided with. Within this job we provide a vital public service so no day is never the same. Within the cluster of courts I work we look after a wide range of people from all different backgrounds including people who suffer mental health, drug and alcohol abuse. Within this role the importance of confidentiality, equality and diversity and respecting all service users/providers at all times is essential, also completion of documentation as per general data protection regulations, safe storing of legal documents and also basic first aid care – unfortunately within my role personal injury is common and I feel comfortable to be able to escalate concerns as required to appropriate healthcare professionals. In addition to this I also have experience in restraint and conflict management which I feel could be utilised. The role demands the ability to think on your feet, make quick decisions and deal effectively with unexpected situations.

To enable people with learning disabilities and complex care needs to live the life they choose and are at the centre of everything we do. Provide support in social, physical and emotional areas to assist clients with integrating into local communities by escorting them to shops, appointments and special events, tailoring service to meet mobility and personal needs of each individuals. Provided companionship through emotional and mental support, assisting with day-to-day living whilst in lockdown. Implemented care plans for patients, maintaining positive wellbeing and independence. Assisted residents in personal hygiene requirements, in accordance with individual care plans. Provided clean, hygienic environment for residents by performing routine cleaning and maintenance tasks. Built special relationships with residents and developed extended relationships with their families, increasing resident satisfaction,. Maintained accurate client records, helping to maximise data quality and accuracy. The care we give is person centered care to promote individual choices.

For the past year, I have worked within the MCN Hub developing positive relationships with students who have multiple complex needs, ranging from SEND, attachment disorder, BESD and SEM. In my cohort I encourage the promotion of pupils’ positive behaviour through whole-school development and implementation of consistent strategies, which foster positive relationships between students and adults. It is my role to support these students whilst in school or with transition to an alternative provision making sure their behaviour and attendance is in accordance with the school policies. I learnt different techniques to help students with their learning and to aid them socially and emotionally. I also liaise with home, outside agencies and placements, keeping relevant persons up to date with the students’ progress and achievements. I also support students in lessons to make sure their behavior and progress is meeting the expectations that are required within the lesson and of course to help them with their development to accomplish their full potential within the classroom environment. I also have to work closely with teaching staff by offering support, strategies and techniques to help with the support of the students.
