Summary

A passionate accounting and finance graduate with a drive in progressing towards the next step in ones career. A holder of an understanding that where there's hard work and consistent improvement, anything is possible!

As a first graduate within the family, I've always worked hard and pushed the limits to prove what is achievable. While gaining a degree I also worked in retail and accomplished a full-time management contract. This experience taught me how to balance studying and full-time working in a professional setting, which opened me up to being within a team and leading one.

Work history

Dispatcher

Southern Railway
London
08.2024 - Current

Performing safety critical duties daily, by ensuring passengers board and alight trains safely and on time. The role requires constant concentration to key details and to be reactive because at any moment a train could have a fault on it, or someone might need urgent assistance. This shows an eye for detail and being alert at all times.

Food Manager

Sainsburys
08.2022 - 09.2023
  • During this period I worked in a small supermarket as 1 of 4 managers with a team of 60 colleagues
  • The responsibilities were to stay legal and compliant with the current laws, give a good shopping experience for customers and colleagues working in the store
  • Sales/Labour is key to stay ahead by making sure the store is well stocked, colleagues are working efficiently and spotting key areas we can grasp to reduce wasted opportunities such as; events such as Christmas/Easter time where sales can dramatically increase
  • I can do this by making sure the right amount of colleagues are in during key times and having a holiday booked in advance can give me as the manager enough time to create a plan on what my colleagues are doing on a daily basis
  • Working as a day shift food manager in a small supermarket has gave me a wide range of experience with solving customers queries on a face to face level
  • I've learnt that customers' expectations and requirements differ, so it's taught me how to adapt to situations
  • Situations such as; customers needing an on how Sainsburys processes are or a customer who may be concerned on what they've experienced while shopping.

Night-shift Manager

Sainsburys
01.2022 - 08.2022
  • Was working in a Sainsburys convenience store where I was the manager of a team of night-shift colleagues who delivered a presentable store for the start of trading hours
  • Responsibilities: Keeping morale and productivity of the team high, while managing and keeping labour hours within budget constraints
  • Manage training of all night-shift colleagues are kept up to date
  • Managing schedules weekly which can be challenging with restricted labour hours and holidays of new colleagues
  • I have learnt a lot from my current role for example, keeping to deadlines, staying task focused, being flexible with time, accommodating different situations for example unexpected sickness from colleagues
  • I manage colleagues who have different strengths and weaknesses, as everyone learns differently
  • This requires adaptation of leadership skills to colleagues as each shift can be quite different with higher volumes of stock and colleagues with different skill sets and ability.

Sales Assistant

Sainsburys
06.2018 - 12.2021
  • June – Sept 2018 - worked at Tottenham court road store
  • Started as one of three code controllers fulltime, towards the end became the only one
  • This evidenced my capability of handling others' workload and made a good impression
  • June – Sept 2019 – worked in a superstore as a front worker which included tasks such as working on the tills and dealing with customer queries
  • Towards the end I attained supervisory duties, making sure team members and customers were satisfied
  • During university semesters 2018 – 2020 – worked in a smaller store as part of the weekend team, while taking overtime on weekdays when possible
  • Received four employees of the month awards and gained closer relation with recurring customers
  • Entrusted with training new employees as weekend team members turnover was high with the objective of improving staff retention
