I am an honest, professional, and diligent person who holds good fundamental personal values, which I believe are extremely important in life. I always treat others with respect and always manage myself with professionalism. I am respectful of others and consider other people’s feelings and emotions when dealing with any situations. From the age of eighteen years old I joined Police Scotland in September 2014 as a Police Constable. This was a massive step in my adulthood as I embraced a heavy responsibility, working unsociable hours and dealing with a wide range of very challenging situations on a day-to-day basis. I served ten years with Police Scotland where I undertook multiple specialist roles including pro-active policing targeting drug dealing and organised crime, detective roles including child abuse and child protection and more laterally in sensitive intelligence roles supporting ‘U' Division in Ayrshire.
Throughout my Police career I completed my work with the utmost respect and professionalism and ensured I always maintained exemplary standards. I would regularly go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure excellent public service and continually pushed other members of the team to exceed their own expectations of themselves. This came very naturally to me as I have always felt comfortable taking the lead role in any task or situation, something that was frequently recognised by leading officers within ‘U’ Division. Having excelled in my police career to secure a position in a sensitive intelligence role at a very early age, I was given the opportunity to start my own business in 2023 with the financial support of a close family member. This was something I had aspired to try for several years and although I have gained a variety of valuable new skills and experience; not least my commercial awareness and people management skills, it does not motivate and challenge me in the same way as my police role and I sorely miss this dynamism and interaction. In addition, I have since become a dad for the first time and I have to think very seriously about long-term financial stability for my family.
I pride myself as being an honest and trustworthy individual with sound common values. I come from a hard-working family background where my father, mother, brothers and sister all hold down professional careers. It is this solid family background that has shaped my character and made me the person I am and although I am confident in my ability to undertake any challenge put in front of me, I always do so with a respectful and modest demeanor.
I hold substantial experience as an Intelligence Development Officer with Police Scotland, specialising in targeting serious and organised crime groups. In this role I developed and delivered intelligence development and specialist research to help detect, disrupt, and deter criminality, ensuring information was gathered, analysed and actioned in a way that supports operational outcomes. My intelligence background also involved a significant amount of cross-border working with partner agencies and other police forces, collaborating toward shared priorities and a common goal. Through this, I have a strong practical understanding of Police Scotland’s intelligence services at both national and local divisional levels, including how intelligence flows, informs decision-making and drives activity. I am always ready to grasp new opportunities and challenge myself in enviroments I know I can thrive in.
Managed immediate responses to incidents, including personal attack and general alarms, while monitoring events and overseeing notifications of concerns, ensuring accurate intelligence logs to enhance safety and security.
Coordinated prisoner and staff movement within Electronic Control Room at HMP Kilmarnock, ensuring operational readiness and timely decision-making following 8 weeks of intensive training.
