• Provide high-quality care to newborn infants within the neonatal unit and transitional care, supporting both well and vulnerable babies.
• Support parents with all aspects of newborn care including feeding (breast, bottle and mixed feeding), bathing, safe sleeping and recognising infant cues.
• Monitor and record infant observations including temperature, respirations, feeding patterns and output, escalating concerns appropriately.
• Assist in the implementation of individualised care plans in partnership with the multidisciplinary team.
• Promote parent-infant bonding and attachment, offering emotional support to families during what can be a stressful and uncertain time.
• Deliver education and practical demonstrations to parents to build confidence and independence in caring for their baby.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with Trust policies and professional standards.
• Adhere to infection prevention and control measures to ensure a safe clinical environment.
