I worked part-time for Andrew Griffiths, helping on the farm and the duties included looking after and cleaning 6 Lely Astronaut robots and helping with 300 head of milking cows & bedding down.
I also helped with the calf rearing system maintaining 4 Lely calm robots to the expected standard, and on a daily basis looked after 100 head of young stock followers.
Associated Dairies
I ensured that the 2 dairies were very clean and tidy on a weekly basis, helping pass the Farm Assurance inspection.
Yard Duties
In 1999 after a small inheritance I embarked on being self employed contract cleaning. I built the business and the business continues. However with the hospitality industry in depression with customers going under I decided the time was right to go back to farming.
The nature of the work meant that I was accustomed to long hours and dirty work. Industrial kitchens requiring contract cleaning are notoriously grim. I was renowned for pride in the quality of my work and professional finish ensuring that all jobs were completed to an exacting standard. I worked within the constraints imposed by HSE.
I often led a number of people on bigger jobs and so can organising a team in addition to working independently.
