My current role is as an Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner working as the specialist physio within a team of 5 Consultant Foot and Ankle Surgeons.

I work in a Consultant clinic responsible for assessing and treating all post op patients and all non surgical patients requiring specialist rehabilitation and advice of often complex patients. I have written many post operative guidelines and protocols for the procedures using evidence based practice and liase with clinicians nationally in keeping up to date with evidence towards best practice.

Within this role I also work within the physio department at RJAH as an Advanced Physio in Lower Limb, assessing and treating GP and Consultant referrals, with a particular interest in early to late stage rehabilitation in a gym and pitch setting.

I have a very active role in education of junior physios and students in the team of 40 staff and act in a clinical leadership role for training and development of staff.

My role as a Senior Sports Injury Physiotherapist at RJAH involved working closely with 2 Consultant Sports Injury Surgeons, Mr Dai Rees and Mr Simon Roberts.

They specialised in both NHS and Private sports injury patients including many professional high level elite athletes from football, rugby, athletics and cricket. I was involved in the immediate post op care of these patients all the way through to end stage rehabilitation, often working closely with club physiotherapists to collaborate their care and rehabilitation.

In addition to my role at Crewe Alex, I was able to develop my knowledge and skills in acute sports injury care of the younger athlete and also the high level professional athlete from injury to return to play. These roles invloved me working within a medical team at a professional football club and within an acute hospital setting with the weekend warrior to the high level elite sports professional player.

My role at Crewe Alex FC started as working in the academy medical team covering the treatment of injuries of the 6-11 year olds for season 1995-1996.

From then on my role developed over the next 5 years to managing the treatment of injuries of the 6-16 year olds, managing the team of physios over each season, working closely with the first team medical team and coaching staff/manager.

From 2000, I became more involved in the 16's-18's and working alongside the first team physio in addition to managing the academy physio team and working in the evenings with the academy players in the treatment of injuries/ rehabilitation and also the prevention of injuries working along side the sport science department.

Throughout this time I attended regular FA training courses maintaining my pitch side management of injuries qualifications and helped with the audit of injuries looking at preventing injuries at academy level over a 10 year period by screening players aged 6-18.

In addition to my academy role I continued to work full time in the NHS as a specialist sports injury physio at RJAH, Oswestry.
