James Walker

I am a skilled machine operator at Re-Gen since Oct 2024. I operate a digger and loading shovel on a day to day basis.

My roles and responsibilities are ensuring pre use checks are done on equipment before use. I am required to move and separate waste material at a good working speed. I am required to work as part of a team and communicate throughout the day with my work colleagues.

I moved to Australia into the unkown for a couple of months to work for Australia's largest farm contractors, Monk and Son. I moved into Australia's spring time so the busy season was starting to take off. I gained a once in a lifetime experience learning how work is done at the other side of the world as well as working long hours of up to 120 per week.

Throughout my time working on this farm i gained a wide range of experience and skills such as milking cows, driving tractors and other farm machinery work, general yard work and livestock skills. My daily tasks consisted of milking the cows twice a day at 4AM and 4PM, diet feeding the cows, feeding calves, mechanicing and other general farm tasks.

I was able to work as part of a team, communicate with colleagues and have good time keeping skills for the early morning starts.
