Work history

Laboratory technician

Silentnight, Barnoldswick
Barnoldswick
  • My responsibilities as a Laboratory Technician were to conduct routine calibration of measuring equipment on a daily basis, to prepare samples for testing and to carry out flammability testing of products and physical testing of raw materials in accordance with the correct British Standards and following strict test procedures. I was required to assemble furniture to assess the product, the quality of the materials, ease of assembly and to check the instructions and parts provided were correct giving detailed explanations of findings and photographic evidence. I used Microsoft Excel to plot the results from environmental temperature/humidity data logging equipment and verify they were within specified tolerances. I also compiled reports for the testing I carried out using Microsoft Word and assessed my results against manufacturer's specifications. I was required to work independently, using my own initiative and to work as part of a team.
