Jake Brown

I am a strong academic achiever with an excellent command of Design Technology, Sport Science and Geography. I received good verbal feedback from my year 10 work experience at the Formula 1 team Alpine due to my enthusiasm to work hard, ability to learn and apply new processes in the workplace. I enjoyed my time there as they put me in several situations with the Human Performance department and the Hydraulics and Gearbox sections. Within lockdown I had to learn how to organise my time well to ensure that I stayed motivated to achieve the best results possible in a situation that I found very challenging. I worked throughout the summer for a landscape gardening company where I was able take instruction from more experienced employees and then work under my own initiative to complete the assigned task. I have also gained experience of working within an agricultural environment where I have assisted the manager in a wide range of jobs with the livestock, harvest and general maintenance around the estate. I am a loyal team member within all my sports and always put team performance above any individual achievement and have been an inspirational team captain who always provides a good role model to the younger members of the squad.

• Played football for Shipston Excelsior since U7s through to the senior side and have been awarded the Manager's player of the season and Players' Players award on a number of occasions including in my inaugural season at adult level.
• Represented West Bromwich Albion FC development side at u12s and also played for the district school's team for 3 seasons.
• Played for Chipping Norton Cricket Club since the age of 9 and now represent them at senior level.
• Represented the county of Oxfordshire since U10s during which time I was the youngest recipient of the Felix Byam Shaw trophy which was a coach nominated award given to one player within the whole pathway structure in recognition of the player's selflessness, willingness to learn and desire to succeed against adversity.
• Volunteered at my cricket club helping with the logistics of the evening and also with coaching the younger squad members.
• Nominated by the club for a Rising Star grassroots from Oxfordshire Cricket Board.
• Received the Chipping Norton Town Council's Olympic Legacy U18s Gold Award for being a positive role model throughout the club, U11 and U18 sportsperson of the year, and have been the club's Young Player of the year for 2 years.
