So far in my career, I have worked part-time in the hospitality sector. Being employed alongside my degree is a huge priority and bar work is clearly the obvious option given my previous experience. This is why I am seeking part-time work in the holidays when I am back home. In the past I've learned vital life skills such as effective communication, being relaxed under pressure and working in a team. I am eager to use my skills that I have acquired in my next job, as well as picking up new skills for the future.
Working for Bars & Dining alongside my full-time degree has been hugely beneficial for both my work experience and covering my living expenses. We work in various bars and restaurants across campus, all of which provide different but exciting challenges. I've been trained on the job, so for bar work learning how to change kegs and generally run a bar sometimes on my own became essential. Given my reliability and work ethic, I now work regularly in mainly two venues across campus.
This was my first job that I had during my A levels, I mostly worked as a waiter which massively improved my communication skills. In the 1879 suite, we had well over 100 in the room ordering food so time management and clear communication were two of the most important skills that I learned there.
