- Perform a range of highly specialist surgical activities relating to cardiac and thoracic surgery with special reference to clinical, technical and scientific aspects, and including autonomous conduit assessment and surgical conduit harvest, including endoscopic vein harvest, acting as expert first and second assistant to the operating surgeon and expert camera piloting for minimal access and port access surgeries.
- Provide expert advice, opinions and training to own and other professions, including medical, relating to all aspects of cardiac and thoracic surgery. Act as a role model demonstrating excellent clinical and professional behaviour.
- Independently and collaboratively undertake research and audit activity in the area of cardiac and thoracic surgery and am involved in publishing and presenting findings on a national and international basis, leading evidence-based change to improve patient outcomes.
- Undertake pre, intra and post-operative patient assessments and address health and wellbeing needs which are complex and changing. Demonstrate the ability to respond to the changing needs of the patient.
