My name is Harry Powell, an enthusiastic and motivated individual and eager to prove myself after building up experience, education, and resilience. Since leaving school, and even during my studies, I was constantly looking to prove myself and my abilities. Having been leading teams and enhancing all of my skills at every given opportunity since, a leadership role is something I am working towards. Working out, playing football, partaking in charity events and giving back to communities, most notably my time in Tanzania is what I love doing. I strive to challenge myself, which is why I am looking to enhance my skills further in a new job prospect.
At CPT Events my day-to-day responsibilities include processing invoices and payments, liaising between clients and internal teams, upselling to increase sales by creating marketing material and pushing that out to thousands of lawyers, surveyors, and business directors. I occasionally travel into London to occasionally help manage events in venues which host up to 300 people. CPT Events essentially runs advanced educational courses for people in Law, Land & Property, as well as Finance. On average I handle anywhere from 4-8 phone calls during the morning whether it's a client wanting to pay an invoice or requesting help with a problem they may have on their end. This job has allowed me to build connections, improve teamwork, maximise self-confidence and bolster my managerial experience.
Some responsibilities I hold while in this position:
During this brief seasonal work at SMART, the largest events company in the UK, I was fortunate enough to gather a vast amount of experience in managing venues, planning, coordinating, catering for thousands of people, and maximising teamwork in every capacity. My jobs would include helping set up for events, making sure all of the numbers were up to date, tent cards are distributed, taking phone calls, liaising with clients, making sure sale targets are met as well as deadlines. This job allowed me to put my foot in the door of managing teams and large groups, it excelled my communicational skills and really helped me in my organisational abilities.
Some of the responsibilities I held within this job:
I worked as a landscaper during the summer between leaving Burger King and starting my official employment at SMART. During this time I would do landscaping projects across Reading and London, most of the time only maintaining gardens and securing short-term clients as I looked to only doing gardening and landscaping for a short while until I moved into another managerial-role. During my time I also gained valuable business skills like financial handling, time management, communicational abilities and client liaising.
A few of my jobs included:
During my study at John Madejski Academy's Sixth Form I worked at Burger King. While employed at Burger King I developed my customer service skills, beat sales targets, led my team, trained new team members, and would handle all customer-related problems. I was able to work towards sales targets, boosting figures by 22% on the best month and 13% on average, bringing in the record number of sales in that restaurant's history. Burger King was a good stepping stone to get into a leadership role while still only 16 and 17 and studying, and allowed me to fully understand the importance of upselling and reaching targets while also satisfying customer needs. It boosted my confidence, communication skills, and leadership abilities.
Some of the responsibilities I held at this job:
During my time in Sixth Form, I participated in a volunteering mission set up by Challenges Abroad which took place in Tanzania with a few others from my school with the goal of helping children learn the basics of hygiene, which during this time we became well equated to their culture and language, which helped us form bonds with the children who we were teaching at the local school. During this time it opened up my eyes to the other sections of the world which are not as fortunate, which is why I always do my best to partake in some sort of charity, whether it is helping out locally at school funfairs, serving Christmas dinner's for elderly people at winter, or raising money for schools in Africa.
