Harry Ide

I have worked at Supernatural for 4 years. Starting at the age of 17, and being taken on full time at the age of 18. I now have 4 years experience as a laminator, also some experience in Trim. A few examples of projects I have been involved with is the Aston Martin Valkyrie and Mercedes AMG One, which included many complex and high visual quality parts. Also I have been involved with Aerospace projects, which consists of very strict tolerances.

I have learned to use an array of materials in many of the projects Iv been involved with. A few examples are, bassalt, copper mesh, fire retardant carbon fibre, glass, ppgf-700, roacells, nomex , aluminium core.

• My time time at AC marine & composites gave me a broad understanding on Marine, tidal energy and Defence sectors. I gained key knowledge on the traditional ways of laminating Carbon fibre and Glass. Such as resin infusion, dry fibre laminating and wet lay. There was many projects I took on, including Ministry of defence contracts which required a great deal of attention and precision to meet the most demanding tolerances. AC marine & composites, provided me the opportunity to really show cast my exceptional pre-preg abilities start to finish on intricate one off designs which very few have been able to accomplish. Not to mention countless hours grinding and trimming

• Currently employed at Global Technologies Racing (GTR Composites), a leading UK-based specialist in high-performance composite design, development, and manufacturing for motorsport, aerospace, defence, and other precision sectors. In this role, I have significantly developed my technical and interpersonal skills by taking on increased responsibilities and managing demanding workloads in a fast-paced, quality-critical environment. A substantial portion of my time has been dedicated to aerospace projects, involving meticulous assembly and inspection processes where adherence to strict tolerances is essential— even minor foreign object debris (FOD) can result in component rejection or rework. This has required regular, effective communication and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams—including office-based engineers, the trim shop, and quality inspection—providing me with comprehensive insight into the full end-to-end composite manufacturing process, from initial lay-up through to final approval and delivery.

• For the past three months, I’ve been working as a Carbon Fibre Laminator at ORECA in France. The company designs and builds Le Mans Prototype race cars, most notably the Oreca 07 LMP2 chassis that has been dominating its category for years. My role involved laying up carbon fibre prepreg materials to produce lightweight, high-strength composite parts for these prototype cars that compete at Le Mans, and in other major endurance races. It was a great hands-on experience working with advanced composites in a real, high-performance motorsport environment. There is only a small number of trusted laminators on site, and I'm one of them now, with a good relationship with the company. I intend to maintain good relationships with all workplaces I get involved with.
