Core Responsibilities

• Operating Specialist Machinery: Using heavy plant equipment such as asphalt pavers, rollers, planers (for removing old surfaces), and chippers.
• Laying Materials: Applying hot coated materials (asphalt and bitumen) and ancillary products like bond coats to specific industry tolerances.
• Surface Preparation: Excavating or "planing" the existing highway, preparing sub-bases, and installing street ironwork like manhole covers.
• Site Safety & Traffic Management: Setting up temporary traffic management systems, including cones, barriers, and temporary traffic lights, to protect the workforce and the public.
• General Maintenance: Carrying out reactive repairs such as pothole filling, gully clearing, and winter maintenance tasks like gritting and snow clearance
