I have been a registered nurse since 2018, beginning my career in the community as a member of the NHS District nursing team.
My work in the care sector, however, has spanned over the last eleven years; working as a Senior Carer and team leader both in the community and at a Care home prior to undertaking my nursing training.
I also hold an undergraduate degree in Education.
My experience as a Community staff nurse has equipped me with a plethora of transferrable skills including but not limited to: palliative and end of life care management, tissue viability, care planning, management of long term conditions and I am competent in various practical skills such as catheterisation, syringe pump management and venepuncture. I have also had the opportunity to mentor nursing students and new colleagues within this role which I found incredibly rewarding.
I possess excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. I am able to confidently and sensitively communicate with the wider multi-disciplinary team, colleagues, patients and their families.
I am able to manage my workload effectively whilst being dynamic and flexible, dependent on the demands of the environment.
I can confidently but calmly manage stressful or emergency situations whilst also remaining open and willing to seek support from senior colleagues if necessary.
