Hamza Chohan

I am a final-year LLB student at the University of Aberdeen, specialising in Scots and English law. My cademic achievements, leadership as a Year 3 School of Law representative, and three years of management experience in logistics demonstrate a commitment to excellence and collaboration—qualities relevant to Slaughter and May's high performance and culture.

Legal experiences at Campbell Boath, Farhan & Co., and Bruce Short Solicitors helped develop my client-focused problem-solving abilities while drafting documents and adjusting to cases. I handled up to ten criminal cases at Bruce Short Solicitors with diligent organisation, drafting visa applications for over twenty clients at Farhan & Co, and collaborating with senior partners on jury trials at Campbell Boath. These experiences align with Slaughter and May's dedication to deliver precise, innovative solutions to complex client matters.

My passion for commercial law is reflected in completing the Clifford Chance Business & Human Rights and Freshfields Fintech virtual internships. These enhanced my understanding of ESG compliance, regulatory challenges, and cross-border legal issues, sectors relevant to Slaughter and May's diverse client base. A Lexis + Advanced Legal Research qualification further emphasises my analytical rigour and ability to navigate complex legal issues.

Beyond legal work, roles as a warehouse manager, waiter, and event representative have strengthened my teamwork, communication, and commercial awareness skills. My extracurricular involvement in mooting, the Commercial Law Society, university rugby, and playing chess demonstrates my resilience, strategic thinking, and dedication to continuous improvement.

I am eager to bring my skills and experiences to Slaughter and May's Edinburgh office, contributing to the firm's tradition of excellence, intellectual curiosity, and innovation while building a meaningful career in commercial law.
