  • Attending Employment Tribunal hearings: providing instructions to counsel, advising clients on strategy and case progress
  • Attending High Court for breach of restrictive covenant claim
  • Hearing preparation: drafting grounds of complaint/resistance, interviewing witnesses and drafting statements, bundle preparation
  • Case types: wrongful and unfair dismissal, discrimination (disability, sex, religion, race), whistleblowing.

Employment Advisory:

  • Advising clients (employer and employee) on the following issues: redundancy and restructuring, TUPE, dismissal, restrictive covenants, disciplinary and grievance procedures.
  • Negotiating and drafting settlement agreements

Employment Transactional:

  • Corporate support work: due diligence on employment matters for M&A deals (share and asset sales)
  • Drafting employment contracts and ancillary documents (junior and executive)

Property Litigation (6 months)

  • Advising on the following issues: landlord/tenant disputes, lease renewals, disrepair claims, enfranchisement, right to manage, boundary disputes, contractual claims
  • Drafting pre-action correspondence and without prejudice correspondence
  • Drafting court forms, pleadings and witness statements
  • Preparing for and attending court, including: instructing counsel, bundle preparation, advising on strategy
  • Attending mediation and supporting clients throughout

Corporate and Commercial (6 months)

Corporate:

  • Drafting transaction documents (SPA, APA) and accompanying ancillaries
  • Undertaking due diligence and reporting to clients
  • Providing key support during completions
  • Managing transactions, e.g. share transfers
  • Overseeing companies house filings and stamp duty adjudication post-completion

Commercial:

  • Negotiating commercial terms on behalf of clients
  • Drafting contracts and agreements, e.g. supply contracts, JV agreements, consultancy agreements, influencer agreements
  • Drafting and advising on GDPR, data sharing and privacy policies

Paralegal, Corporate & Commercial
