
Highly experienced Head of Estates with over 30 years' expertise in construction, refurbishment, and maintenance of historic and listed buildings. Strong leadership background within an educational setting, managing estates operations, compliance, budgets, and capital projects. Key duties and responsibilities
· Leadership and Team Management: Lead and manage the estates team, ensuring the smooth operation of the school estate spanning 44 acres, which includes a combination of residential properties and school facilities. Supervise staff across multiple departments, including grounds, walkways, domestics, security, and school porters, providing training, mentorship, and professional development using inclusive management techniques.
· Facilities Management: Oversee the management and maintenance of Grade 2 listed Estate comprising of six large boarding houses with 320 dormitories, a full-size theatre, swimming pool, science blocks, and multiple teaching blocks. Ensure all facilities operate efficiently and are well-maintained.
· Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) and Projects: Manage all PPM schedules, refurbishments, and new build projects. Engage and coordinate with external contractors, architects, planning consultants, and engineers. Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and project safety standards.
· Health, Safety, and Compliance: Ensured compliance with Health and Safety policies, including ISI and HSE standards, by implementing procedures and monitoring adherence across all operational areas.
· Budget and Resource Management: Develop and manage budgets effectively to maximize cost efficiency while maintaining high standards across the estate. Identify opportunities for cost savings and strategic improvements.
· External Liaison and Operational Efficiency: Collaborated with external providers to enhance services and streamline operations, implementing strategic improvements to prioritise customer focus across the estate.
· Crisis and Risk Management: Lead responses to critical incidents such as power outages, water supply failures, and severe weather events, ensuring minimal disruption to school operations.
· Continuous Improvement: Identified and implemented initiatives that enhanced operational efficiency and improved service delivery, strengthening overall experience for students, staff, and visitors.
