Sailing has been a lifelong passion of mine, initially sparked as a child when my father won an old, dilapidated Wensum sailing dinghy. From this point I became a regular at a local inland sailing club.
Over time I worked my way up to Chief Instructor for Dinghy/Windsurf, as well as PBI at this sailing club. This was also the base from which I supported my children through their national sailing and windsurfing campaigns. I am now very excited to embark on a new career within the Leisure Industry as a professional Yachtmaster
The years and verity of work experience, listed, have allowed me to develop a very practically based skill set, which drives me to be an effective Manager, capable of acting in multiple capacities to promote efficient and high quality operations. I always look out for skills and good ideas in others, acknowledging incentive to foster an ethos of engagement and 'ownership' of delegated operational roles. I feel that it is a fundamental duty to recognise potential and help develop individuals within any given team.
In combination with my practical skill-set I have developed a personable, diplomatic and professional approach, through my previous work experience, which has allowed me to be able to handle challenging requests with friendly and knowledgeable support in high volume hospitality environments.
Skills developed at previous placements also include; maintaining accurate and updated staffing rotas and addressing under-performance; building, updating and disseminating operational procedures, utilising on-going risk assessments to proactively develop and maintain safe working environments and practices as well as keeping every-day communications within the team open, empathetic and friendly.
In my free time I enjoy climbing, swimming and Wing foiling.
