I am a very hard working and organised young adult, who is able to quickly learn new skills and adapt to new environments with ease. I am open minded and receptive to listening to other people and their ideas, which enables me work productively as part as a team, as well as individually. Because of this, I believe I would thrive in a customer-service role.
I worked in the kitchen at my old workplace where I would help prepare food, clean around the kitchen and make sure to throw out/check the ingredients to make sure everything is in date and that things were not out of place.
It helped me to develop my skills as a team, being able to get orders done on time and be quick without any mistakes and being able to keep things in order even on busy days.
It helped me understand the importance of teamwork and when it is needed the most.
I hope to learn much more in the future
I worked in the Primary School for two weeks as part of my work experience. During this time, I mainly shadowed the T.A in their duties of aiding the teacher
My responsibilities included assisting children (ages 6-8) when they were struggling with their school work. Helping students who were behind in numeracy catch up to their peers with 1-to-1 mental maths support. Guided reading to insure that the children were on target and then liaising with the T.A and Teacher about their progress.
Throughout the two weeks, I also became skilled in basic admin tasks, such as photocopying, laminating, successfully navigating through the school's computer database to log information.
While I have been working at H&M I have built on both my listening skills, this always me to be more understanding and aware of the situation. Being able to listen careful and help customer with what they need has been a big improvement of mine over the last year and half.
Overall I believe my customer service skills have improved and as I have mentioned i am able to give the customer the best experience possible. If I am not able to give them what they want I will always recommend either similar clothing or a different shop to satisfy their needs.
I am also able to operate the cash desk really well, I even know how to cash up at the end of the days. My mathematic skills has improved over the years the more I have operated as a cashier so I am very quick and efficient when dealing with customers and their orders.
As a past music student, I became accustomed to working as part of a team with out projects being to compose a song In doing so, I had to be able to listen to others and their ideas, provide supportive and constructive critiques; present my own ideas to a group and overall help to maintain good rapport, in order to collectively produce our best work
I believe I am quite efficient in my mental math skills I enjoyed numeracy in school, which would prove beneficial in an environment dealing with inventory and money These skills were also put to practice when I did my work experience, as one of my responsibilities was helping struggling students with mental maths question
As a politics student, I am very intrigued by other people's points of view, which means I enjoy engaging in active listening I am always open to hearing what those around me have to say, with utmost patience and consideration to their thoughts and opinions I'm also partial to participating in debates
