MY ICEBREAKER

We were on the airfield at Blandford camp, we would do type training every now and again as driving examiners. This particular day we were all taking it turns to drive an articulated lorry - belonging to one of the contractors.

Unfortunately one of the examiners had got out of the cab and forgot to apply the park brake, for a few seconds we couldn't believe our eyes as we looked down at the wheels and saw them turning and there was nobody in the cab.

Another examiner and I tried to run after it, the other guy an ex-marine fell by the wayside but I manged to get on the moving vehicle and into the cab and pull on the park brake on and stop it; before it smashed into another vehicle - words to the effect they never called me a “large person again”! Because I could run.
