Following an exemplary 30 year police career in both London and Kent I have been in post as the Head Constable at Canterbury Cathedral since 2023. In both roles I operate at the strategic, management and tactical levels which gives me a top to bottom understanding of security related matters. I am particularly expert in translating legislation and complexity into realistic and effetive practical measures.

Head of Security for Canterbury Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Lead a team of attested Constables who provide 24/7 security.

Author of security policies and practices; management of security budget, contracts and training; lead person for liaison with Emergency Services, Counter-Terrorism and Local Authorities (safety and security); safeguarding working group member.

  • Between December 1991 and January 2022, I worked as a police officer after graduating from the University of Kent.
  • I joined the Metropolitan Police Service on 2nd December 1991 before transferring to Kent Police on 2nd September 2002. I remained with Kent Police until my retirement in January 2022.
  • I have worked in wide variety of roles including uniform response, neighborhood policing, community safety, CID crime investigation and strategic criminal justice. I achieved the rank of Detective Inspector in 2012 and held this position until my retirement from Kent Police in 2022.
  • I have led a large number of teams both at a tactical and strategic level and have held Force wide responsibility for a number of criminal justice projects.
  • I maintained an outstanding performance and attendance record throughout my 30 year police career. I received 12 commendations throughout my service for a variety of reasons including bravery, innovation, performance, and leadership. These included the highest one, Chief Constable's Certificate of Merit.
  • I led on the Kent Police 'Green Guardian’ programme. This involved supporting culture change, educating staff and implementing new initiatives to reduce the carbon footprint of Kent Police. I received awards for this work from both Kent Police and Kent County Council.
