Research Experience

Subarachnoid Haemorrhage in the Emergency Department (SHED)

  • The primary outcome is to provide diagnostic test characteristics for the 6-hour cut point strategy, suggested by Perry et al.
  • This study also aims for several secondary outcomes, including the diagnostic test characteristics of CT brain imaging at later time points (up to 24 hours post-onset), and to validate the clinical Ottawa subarachnoid haemorrhage rule for avoidance of neuroimaging in headache.
  • I have completed my Good Clinical Practice training to be able to take part in this study and I am participating in the role of Co-Investigator for my trust (Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust).
  • My role includes the recruitment of patients to this trial. The recruitment process is still ongoing, and we have managed to recruit 10 patients for the trial so far.
