I have had a varied policing career. Between 2009 – 2014 I worked at Warwickshire Police headquarters in the control room as a call handler and a police dispatcher. I am confident in reading maps and radio etiquette. Between 2010-2014 I was a Special Constable for the force. Between 2014-2017 I was a response Police Constable.
I left Warwickshire Police in 2017 to provide end of life care to a family member and support my partner. Between 2017-2021 I was employed by Coventry City Council, initially working in Primary Education before transitioning to work at a secondary school. The role was tailored to my skills and experience; I provided education to young people who were in internal exclusion or who were unable to access mainstream lessons. The mentor role developed and I was asked to cover as a year head temporarily, liaising with the senior leadership team, conducting safeguarding meetings to support staff, parents and pupils. During the pandemic, I was asked to help run the key-worker school and also to supervise the lateral flow testing programme. This was a complex and dynamic role, adapting to changes in process, policy, legislation, training and managing a team, considering health and safety and logistics. The police ran a recruitment drive for officers to return due to the lengthy recruitment and training process. I started working for West Midlands Police in April 2021. I have worked across CID, Complex Investigations (rape, domestic attempt murders, honour based violence), neighbourhood crime team (high value vehicle thefts, high value courier fraud and thefts) and most notably, I have worked on CIRV – the Community Initiative to Reduce Violence. CIRV is a home office funded programme to target and tackle knife crime, county lines and exploitation. I have an array of transferable skills and life experience from Policing and Education.
