As an aspiring solicitor, I am interested in commercial litigation. I am eager to apply my legal knowledge and passion for dispute resolution in a professional setting and contribute to resolving complex issues collaboratively and client-focused. In my law degree, I have completed a module on real-world law, where we learnt to write legal documents and other essential skills necessary for a career in law.
I have also participated in multiple extracurricular activities, such as negotiation workshops and advocacy. I am also studying alternative dispute resolution in my final year, alongside the university's law clinic, which I was accepted into.
Although I am primarily interested in litigation law, I am interested in all aspects of law. I find the law fascinating, and I am keen to learn more. I am also determined to pursue a career in this field.
In my work experience at Freeths, I worked alongside a solicitor specialising in commercial litigation. I read contracts, provided the solicitor with answers to the client's questions, and gave a legal stance on them. I also had the opportunity to see the networking that a law firm does, and we attended roundtable events that discussed issues in the country for businesses and promoted the firm through this.
I also had the privilege of meeting with clients to discuss their cases and the arbitration process. I noted down information from the conferences and summarised it for my mentor, including the next steps in the process and whether any deadlines need to be met in this case.
