Known for resilience, positivity, and prioritising person-centred care, with a passion for health literacy and collaborative teamwork. Career goals include enhancing the delivery of care by using evidence based practice and keeping informed about most recent guidelines to ensure good standards of patient care.
During this period I have completed, successfully, 9 clinical practice placements in both Primary and Secondary care.
I am eager to be starting my final management placement in a GP practice after requesting this particular field of patient care. Here I will be able to continue to develop, and expand, my knowledge on the relevant competencies and skills needed for this role within a Band 5 Practice Nurse. As a student nurse I have collaborated with staff members to facilitate excellent standards of care, increasing patient satisfaction. I have prioritised and underpinned my delivery of care using the 6C's.
In addition to my current studies, I opted to work within the health care sector which enabled me to continue to provide patient care and work within a multi-disciplinary team on acute medical wards. Whilst doing this separate role I feel I have transferable skills within the Health care environment and have taken this opportunity to work alongside registered Nurses to provide effective person-centred care and gain more exposure along side my university studies.
Working as a care worker I was inspired by the nurses compassion and ability to enhance the quality of their patients lives and learned the importance of Holistic care and showing compassion. I enjoyed building professional relationships with the patients and their families ensuring great patient and family satisfaction. Here I began to learn about the fundamentals of healthcare such as, the importance of confidentiality, safeguarding, infection control and completed basic life support training. From this, my willingness to learn more grew which led me to beginning my adult nursing degree.
My role as a dental nurse involved working collaboratively with a dentist to provide effective care and treatment. I was responsible for maintaining high standards of infection control, following policies and procedures and accurate documentation. Here I was involved in promoting health literacy to patients to improve oral hygiene and was passionate in educating patients. Here gave me the realisation I had an interest in overall health therefore I continued on my personal development.
