Working in a Secure Unit with adults with learning disabilities, mental health diagnoses and under forensic sections. I have been both 'Bank' and permanent, part-time in this position, hence why I have had other jobs at the same time.

  • Acting up as senior HCW as and when needed - delegating tasks for the day and allocating up to 14 ward staff's daily hours.
  • Assists qualified staff with assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed to facilitate well-being, dignity and treatment of all patients.
  • Provide specific interventions, such as observation and engagement with patients, escorting patients on leave, and being involved in de-escalation and management of violence and aggression, including physical intervention.
  • Observes and monitors the well-being of patients, ensuring that any unusual physical, mental or emotional occurrences are promptly referred to the primary nurse and documented as appropriate.
