Trainee Electrical Maintainance Engineer

Midwest Electrical Maintainance
Wolverhampton
03.2021 - 02.2022
  • During my time during Midwest I worked at many places such as Wolverhampton homes, Worcester Council, Wyre Forest Council and JD Wetherspoons Pubs.
  • I was mainly changing lights and outside lights, upgrading breakers due to overloads on circuits, single phase and three phase board changes.
  • Biggest project I did during my time here was an empty unit installation which included 3 lighting circuits, 2 socket circuits for the office inside the unit installed into dado trunking and sockets dotted around the unit.
  • We had multiple straight drops and bends in the conduit for sockets and switch drops.
  • Reason for looking to leave was due to doing maintenance work which I didn't seem to be gaining much additional skills from this.
  • I also wanted to complete my 3rd year training to become a fully qualified electrician, however, they didn't seem to want to support this.

Trainee Electrical Installer

Thompson AVC
Wolverhampton
01.2020 - 02.2021
  • Throughout my time with Thompson AVC I have acquired many new skills including, installing alarm systems, Galaxy RIO panels, non powered RIO's also different sorts of detection.
  • The majority of installs have been in the Dunelm retail stores, working over the country on refits and new stores.
  • I have also worked on parts of fire alarm systems.
  • I understand all the basics installing smoke detectors, heat detectors and fire alarm call points, including all sorts of CCTV work, data points and having to patch back down into the patch panels and link it across to the switch using patch leads.
  • I left this position as there was too much long distance travel and overnight stays and I felt that they were simply using me to do jobs that nobody else wanted to do.

Trainee Electrician

Bion Electrical
Wolverhampton
01.2018 - 11.2019
  • Whilst working for Bion Electrical for almost 2 years I have been working on a variety of different jobs including industrial, commercial and domestic installations.
  • I worked on many lighting jobs around Wolverhampton, Birmingham and Telford and also further afield working over weekends to complete jobs in Manchester, Wales and London.
  • I have worked on many rewires and have gained valuable knowledge in electrical circuitry whilst working for the past 2 years.
  • These skills include glanding off armored cables from 12mm up to 240mm and connecting them into a 3 Phase fuse-board.
  • Also installed different types of tray/strut/basket work along the way.
  • I've enjoyed learning about network installations and working on how to install and connect up CAT5/6 cable into data points and back to the cab.
  • I've also gained an ECS and IPAF cards meaning I can work on-site, as well as at heights using cherry pickers etc.
