Dr Syed Mustafa Ali

To say I am passionate about Liaison Psychiatry would be an understatement. I currently work as an ST6 Higher Trainee in General Adult Psychiatry for the Leeds and York Partnership NHS Trust. I completed a 12-month endorsement post in Liaison Psychiatry with the Liaison In-reach & ALPS service at the Becklin Centre between August 2023-24. I have also previously worked for the Liaison In-reach team as well as at the National Inpatient Centre for Psychological Medicine at the Leeds General Infirmary as a Core Trainee in 2019. Additionally, I completed my MSc in Clinical Neuropsychiatry with the University of Birmingham in February 2025, with my final dissertation on the use and efficacy of electroconvulsive therapy in patients with psychiatric symptoms of Anti-NMDA encephalitis. I am keen to contribute to the success and efficient running of a service as a clinical leader, whilst ensuring the highest standards of professionalism, clinical excellence and collaborative patient-centered practice.

• Co-led an audit project titled, 'An evaluation into patient transfer delays between the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust and Acute Mental Health units for working age adult patients' with the Liaison Psychiatry In-reach team at the Becklin Centre, June 2024.
• Project lead on a service evaluation project titled, 'Attendance rates in the Liaison Psychiatry Outpatient Service at LYPFT' in May 2024.
• Supervised an audit project by Foundation year doctors titles, 'Evaluating the completion of Minimum Data Set (MDS) forms in the Liaison In-reach team' in January 2024.
• Clinical lead on a Serious Incident Investigation conducted by the Leeds and York Partnership NHS Trust, December 2023.
• Project lead on an audit titled, 'Differential Diagnosis of Dementia: An Audit of the quality of initial assessment' at LYPFT during my CT3 year in 2021.
• Project lead on an audit titled, 'Audit of Carer Involvement and Support Plan (CISP) at the National Inpatient Centre for Psychological Medicine' at LYPFT during my CT2 year in 2019.
• Project lead on an audit titled, ''An environmental audit of inpatient facilities for patients with Dementia' at the South West Yorkshire NHS Trust during my CT1 year in 2018.
