I currently work as a six session GP partner at Chet Valley Medical Practice. I have been working at the practice for over seven years and became a partner in January 2018. I have several lead roles, including Safeguarding and Audit lead. I am a trained Educational Supervisor and have had many years of supporting registrars, including trainees who require extra support from previous exam failures.

Dancing, running, Hyrox training, diving, travelling, yoga
I really enjoy keeping active and exercise as much as I can around being a busy single parent. I have recently started dancing Bachata and find this is such a great way to switch off. I do yoga and meditation on a regular basis. My current and upcoming challenge is a Hyrox event which is quite like cross-fit, this is due to take place in November 2023. I have an allotment with four chickens who are more like dogs! I love gardening and just generally love being outside.
Ideally I would like to partake in an expedition next year involving marine conservation. I love diving and the ocean- I did my elective in Thailand and had some training in dive medicine.
I travel often with my Daughter who also loves the ocean, although she is not such a fan of walking! We recently had an adventure in Costa Rica which was incredible.
I am a highly Resilient GP who has worked through the pandemic as a Partner; this has been an extremely stressful period for our practice. Most recently, we have acquired a new practice manager, had several long term partners retire and changed over to System 1 from EMIS (I therefore have experience in both).
Over the years I have built a very strong connection with my patients, many who will "only see Dr McConnell." I enjoy all aspects of General Practice from mental health to practical procedures such as joint injections, cryotherapy and micro-suction.
I work effectively under pressure and am brilliant at multi-tasking.
My strengths include being very approachable and sociable, I tend to be the GP who staff will approach with problems. I feel I am a highly valuable team member of Chet Valley Medical Practice.
