Night Shift Manager
Executive Summary & Operational Performance
- Top-Performing Shift Leadership: Statistically secured and maintained the highest operational performance metrics across all three shifts at AMCO, consistently exceeding site KPIs despite lean resource allocation.
- Strategic KPI Management: Monitor, analyze, and drive shift performance via warehouse KPI boards to ensure strict adherence to service level agreements (SLAs) and corporate benchmarks.
Autonomous Management & Operational Independence
- Independent Shift Command: Single-handedly manage the entire night shift operation and facility for the past 14 months without the support of a Team Leader or deputy—a resource standard provided to all other shift management teams.
- High-Level Decision-Making: Serve as the sole overnight point of escalation; autonomously making critical, time-sensitive decisions regarding resource reallocation, transport delays, and operational bottlenecks.
- Self-Reliant Problem Solving: Execute complex problem-solving independently, operating without immediate access to an Operations Manager or Planning team available to daytime counterpart managers for guidance and knowledge-sharing.
- Contingency & Resource Coverage:
Maintain operational continuity by personally covering floor bottlenecks and staffing gaps, including operating Forklift Trucks (FLTs) and absorbing duties during staff annual leave.
Technical Administration & System Control
- System Synchronization & Data Integrity: Maintain strict inventory accuracy and dual-platform alignment by manually synchronizing data and resolving discrepancies between Think Software and Helm (Legacy DC).
- Advanced Stock Reconciliation: Manage complex administrative troubleshooting, including investigating, auditing, and dynamically reallocating inventory/picks reported missing or altered during the picking process.
- Client & Escalation Correspondence: Act as the primary overnight point of contact for external clients, proactively managing customer communications regarding order updates, delivery schedules, and fulfillment adjustments.
Workforce Development & Project Delivery
- Comprehensive Team Upskilling: Scaled the shift's capabilities from a starting point of just one permanent driver by personally training the remaining 6 team members across the majority of core warehouse operations, significantly increasing cross-functional flexibility.
- Workforce Supervision: Direct a core team of 7 dock operatives, optimizing workflows to meet nightly throughput and loading targets.
- Project Management: Oversaw the onboarding and daily management of a high-volume, 8-person re-stickering project, absorbing the additional headcount, training requirements, and quality control metrics into standard nightly operations.
Inbound, Outbound & Inventory Control
- Dock & Freight Preparation: Strategically organize bay layouts and staging areas ahead of time to streamline incoming overnight deliveries and optimize cross-docking/transshipment efficiency.
- Hands-on Operational Support: Actively support floor operations when required, including picking, putting stock away, and inventory replenishment to meet tight dispatch windows.
Logistics, Transport & Compliance
- Transport Office Liaison: Coordinate directly with the transport department to oversee vehicle arrivals, departures, and strategic trailer movements.
- International Freight Management: Facilitate unexpected European arrivals overnight, which includes validating documentation, processing specialized European freight quotes, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Documentation & Administration: Generate, audit, and authorize all essential shift paperwork (PPW) and compliance logs to guarantee seamless shift handovers.
