Dilan Bas

I am a 29-year-old Quantity Surveyor having graduated in the summer of 2021 studying Quantity Surveying at Leeds Beckett University. I also have up to 2 years’ worth of trainee/work placement experience prior to my first graduate role consisting of both contractor and consultancy.

I began my first graduate role in April 2021 at Quentem where I started learning the basics of Cost Management and was assisting more senior members in completing day to day tasks. Following my quick progression I requested more responsibility however, was not offered this. Another opportunity came up to work in a small consultancy side by side with a director where I would have exposure to all aspects of Cost Management where I would grow. For my development I felt this was fundamental. This led to making a move to Keegans and within 6 months I started running my own projects no longer assisting. After completing a year I had ambitions to join a larger consultancy where I could work within a larger team and make a bigger impact. I made the move to TSA Riley and have been at the company for just over 2 years. It has everything I was looking for and I am very happy here to this day and I would not make another change to another UK based consultancy.

I have just over 4 years post-grad QS experience within a Consultancy capacity. However, I am now looking for a new opportunity for the next stage in my career and life to further develop myself and have new experiences which has led to my interest in the US Market.

Throughout my career I have worked on projects valued at between £500k and £150m with experience in a variety of sectors including: Residential, Retail, Commercial, Education and logistics. I have a very competent level of understanding and ability of progressing a project through the Pre-Contract and Post-Contract phases up till signing off at Final Account. I work well within a team and can also work independently and a hard-working reliable person with a willingness to learn new challenges put in front of me. I am also currently working on my APC to become chartered. I have a passion for this industry and hope to excel and have a great professional career to make a name for myself wherever I go.
