DEBRA PHILLIP

Summary

I am a Person-centred Integrative therapist working within the counselling and psychotherapy field, bringing twenty‑eight years of experience across creative industries and education into therapeutic practice. My work is shaped by attunement to individual needs, creative responsiveness, and supporting people through challenge and change. My therapeutic identity is rooted in the Person Centred model and enriched by Integrative approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Mentalization Based Therapy. I hold a committed anti‑oppressive, anti‑racist and culturally attuned stance, recognising the wider systems shaping each person’s lived experience. My twenty‑two years as a Secondary School Design and Technology Manager and Teacher strengthened safeguarding awareness, pastoral sensitivity and the capacity to hold emotional complexity for young people navigating difficult circumstances. Multi‑agency work deepened collaborative and communication skills. In placement, clear boundaries, responsiveness and adaptability became natural ways of being. My earlier career as an Artist and Textile Designer nurtured creativity, attention to detail and an appreciation for process, qualities that now shape my reflective practice and therapeutic presence.
