I have worked at the English Institute of Sport Sheffield since September 2021. I am currently employed as a Duty Manager and Sports Assistant.

  • This involves the daily operations of the venue, which include set-ups for various bookings throughout the day, preparing for events, and dealing with any customer queries
  • Throughout my time I have looked to lead by example, embodying a positive work ethic and motivating staff for peak performance
  • As a Duty Manager, I believe I have developed my customer service interactions by ensuring a positive experience when hosting events and being an excellent ambassador for the Trust
  • Additionally, I have advanced my organisational skills and ability to delegate tasks, respond to situations quickly and effectively
  • During my time at the EISS, I have completed several training courses including First Aid at Work and Defibrillator qualification, Fire Safety, Manual Handling, ACT awareness, Disability awareness and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion training
  • Furthermore, I am fully licensed to operate Mobile Vertical (3a) and Boom (3b) Platforms and have an operational Personal License

Student Placement

Sheffield Hallam University
  • I completed a 6-week placement as part of my degree course, working with a Junior Diving Talent Squad at Ponds Forge
  • I worked in a multi-disciplinary team responsible for identifying weaknesses and introducing interventions to enhance the divers' performance
  • From this experience, I learned to adapt my coaching style depending on the needs and abilities of different individuals as well as introduce innovative techniques to assess and analyse their performance
  • As part of this role of working with young athletes, recognition of appropriate safeguarding practices to maintain the safety and welfare of the divers during their training was paramount

Charity Shop Volunteer

Barnado's
  • I volunteered for Barnardo's Charity Shop where I served customers, ensured the shop floor was tidy and presentable, as well as dealing with any queries
  • I found this enhanced my ability to communicate with others and work effectively as part of a team
  • I also gained an insight into sales and marketing techniques with regard to organising displays and labels to increase footfall and the overall customer experience
