Ward 4 is made up of two floors with rotation to both. It consists of providing specialist Brachytherapy and 4 specialist molecular radiotherapy treatments. Alongside this it has patients undergoing radiotherapy, chemotherapy, palliative care or symptom control. Ward 4 specialise in care of patients that have tracheostomies or laryngectomies and require enteral feeding. My daily duties are admitting patients with potentially curative diseases, alongside patients requiring end of life care. I have opportunity to work within supportive environment, developing excellent skills and knowledge in this specialised area. As part of ward team I aim to achieve and maintain high standard of patient care. I undertake nursing care patients, ensuring privacy & dignity is maintained whilst being aware of physical and psychological needs. I ensure that prescribed medications and treatment are given correctly and in accordance with hospital procedure and policy and work within NMC guidelines.
Allocated in different NHS hosptials and providing care to patients suffering from various illnesses . My daily duties include administering medications and injections as prescribed by the doctor, Administer Intravenous Fluids and oxygen as required, Provide frequent patient evaluations including monitoring vital signs and perform essential procedures, Prepare the patient for various investigations such as Ultra Sound, Echo, CT scan, MRI, Endoscopy and giving psychological support to the patient and family members and educate patient and family about the disease and prognosis of the patient. Inserting cannula's, venepunctur, female catheterisation, administering injection, talking bloods as requested. Chronic patient care in surgical or medical units, adeptly handling all aspects of treatment from medication to wound care to monitoring. At all times following the the trust policy and guidelines as required.
Admitting patient from intensive care unit, Accidental and Emergence unit and a patient from general ward who needs level 2 care. As part of my daily duties is continuously monitoring patients with level two care. Dealing with patients with respiratory problems, requiring non-invasive ventilation with moderate to severe acidosis such as CPAPA or BIPAP. Administer medications as prescribe, obtaining arterial and capillary blood gases as required, caring for patients with chest drains, monitoring arterial/central lines and providing tracheostomy care.
Working on a Cardiology division as Qualified Nurse, which is specialise with patients with heart conditions . Cardiology has a variety of subspecialty interest which enhances the care of patients with heart diseases including on-site nuclear myocardial imaging service, cardio-respiratory investigation department, Rapid access chest pain clinic, new on set chest pain services. I have also had the chance to work with different MDT's for example doctors occupational therapists and physiotherapist. My daily duties include provide medications and injections as prescribed by the doctor, Administer Intravenous Fluids and oxygen as required, Provide frequent patient evaluations including monitoring vital signs and perform essential procedures, taking bloods as requested by doctors, Preparing patients for various investigations like Angiogram, cardiac monitoring, vascular monitoring, health assessments, electrocardiogram monitoring, defibrillation, given psychological support to the patient sand family members and educate patient and family about the disease and prognosis of the patient. On the ward I am responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the ward, ensuring that both staff performance and patient care meet high standards. my role involves regularly assessing patient feedback, using it to acknowledge and celebrate staff achievements, while also identifying areas for improvement. By continuously monitoring the ward's performance and helping Ward Manager ensures that patient care is consistently safe, effective, and of the highest quality. I work closely with the team to address any issues, implement best practices, and foster an environment focused on continuous improvement and exceptional patient outcomes.
Working on a medical ward which specialise in patients with a variety of medical conditions including shortness of breath, Diabetic and endocrine problems and heart failure and through this i have been able to gain new skills medical division.
