Summary

I am an organised student seeking a career in nuclear engineering. I am a quick learner and embrace learning new skills, working with new technology and machinery and coming up with efficient, practical and reliable solutions.

I consider myself to be a problem-solving team player with experience of charting the best route forwards, identifying problems early, and working with others to find the best solution. I may not be the most vocal in the group but I have learned how to lead by example and make myself heard when needed.

After spending two days at the EDF Nuclear Plant in Hartlepool I am excited about the opportunity to build a career with EDF. In particular I am enthusiastic about their focus on developing Sustainable and Renewable Energy Technologies in the UK and around the world. I want to be part of that future making energy simpler, cheaper and cleaner.

Skills

My skills and strengths are centred around math's, science and engineering I have always found these easy to understand and I appreciate their application in the real world

I particularly enjoy designing and manufacturing and in my spare time I have produced table legs, aluminium keyrings and a wood store For the woodstore I completed Orthographic drawings before then moving on to build it This helped make the aspects of my GCSE in Engineering come to life and have their real world application

My GCSE in engineering has provided me with a broad range of practical experience as well as theory, for example:

  • I have learned how to produce Orthographic Drawings
  • I have experience of using CAD, namely onshape and onscale
  • I have designed and built a Passive Amplifier out of wood
  • I have used electric drill presses, fret saws, hand tools and belt sanders I have experience of working with a pewter casting machine, CNC machine, 3D printer, and a wood turning lathe
  • I have learned how to write risk assessments, production plans, gant charts and a diary of production

I can work well in a team and learned how to do this during my Duke of Edinburgh Awards where I have completed both the Bronze and Silver and I aim to put myself forward for the Gold award in the coming few years This has involved working with my team members to plot a course, carry equipment, plan meals and cope with unexpected challenges and problems that might arise during the expedition

I am an active member in my church, Wardley Christadelphians, where I have helped out at Charity Events, Youth Clubs and other activities that are arranged
