Curtis James

Working in the water industry upgrading and installing new infrastructure and improving site safety. working with methods such as fusion welding and ductile pipework on mechanical jobs to creating high quality finishes on concrete base's and installing complex steel frame work. Working with a great team i have learnt a lot while also being able to share my own ideas and skill set to complete jobs within deadlines and produce a high standard of finish to our projects and work.

• Responsibilities include overseeing health and safety on the site, for both myself and the safety of the truck driver’s, this is done via maintaining strong communication and being alert to surroundings in a dangerous work environment. I am also responsible for doing daily checks and reporting of any hazards or risks, including road safety and bank protections are all in order.

• I started here as an apprentice, As I progressed I gained many responsibilities and within 3 years was promoted internally to a supervisor. I covered all major tasks as a general builder, learning and gaining knowledge on the job. In this role I was mentored by my employer on how to produce high quality work, and to only produce my highest standard this helped me gain respect and was soon trusted to do independent work and train new apprentices. I worked with customers to ensure their satisfaction tending to all problems and creating solutions to keep everyone positive and keep the work productivity up high.

• My first job in my local village, where I gained my passion for not only working but working with a community and also where I first got my taste in building. I learned a lot from this job and I will always be thankful for the path that the farm and people sent me down.
