I volunteered in Lawrie Vets at Kenilworth, Cumbernauld, Glasgow. while volunteering I got to learn new skills about the daily life of a veterinary nurse and how to look after animals efficiently. I cleaned out kennels, helped administer medication, I fed animals and worked side by side with other animal care assistants, veterinary nurses and veterinary surgeons. During my time there I got to witness surgery's and experience how different technology worked in the veterinary practice.

I was able to work with different temperament dogs and understand how to work with them while keeping them calm. I took a first aid course and an animal behaviour course before working in the groom room so I had full understanding on what to do if there was emergencies or if dogs needed help or breaks between grooms
I own a dog and two hamsters, owning my pets gives me individual understanding on how to look after animals daily
