Work history

Deputy Head of Healthcare

  • Assisting the Head of Healthcare with the day-to-day management, supervision of staff, and operational management of the Healthcare unit within the HIRC which includes budget/finance management, attending Home Office, stakeholders’ meeting/enquiries, staff recruitment and training. When I joined the team, I was advised that the team failed last CQC/His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Prisons Inspection due to poor supervision, and staffing levels, with another Independent Review Panel due mid-February 2025. I took the initiative to prioritise these aspects. First week of February 2025, we had an unannounced CQC inspection followed by the expected Independent Review Panel two weeks afterwards of which the feedback was outstanding as the team now over exceeded the recommendations from the previous inspection. Supervision went up from 20% to over 80% and staffing levels went up from 40% to 90% which was achieved within 7 months of my appointment.
