Charlotte Gaunt

Polstead,Suffolk

Summary

I am entering my second year as a student at the University of York studying Business and Management, with a strong interest in HR, business planning and supporting effective team managment. . I found this passion through my summer work experience this summer at Fladgate LLP, in which I shadowed the HR team for a week. This developed my insight into the importance of a healthy workplace rapport. I am a confident, proactive individual with strong communication and organisational skills who enjoys leading group projects and discussions. I am motivated to understand how these same principles I learnt within Fladgate LLP are applied to larger, more diverse , and fast-paced organisations such as Haleon, which embodies talent and sucess of leading health and wellbeing brands. I am eager to develop my skills and knowledge within the field by having a strong involvement and contribution within a team environment.

Human Resources

Fladgate LLP

  • Deepened understanding of recruitment process, HR operations, and employee relations, recognising the vital role people play in driving organisational success. Shadowed team members to gain first-hand insights into life within a law firm and enhanced knowledge through active questioning. I particularly found recruitment the most fascinating. I also visited the Royal Courts of Justice, which provided valuable insight into the legal profession. Strengthened my interest in HR and developed my appreciation for diverse opportunities within the profession. It was a fantastic opportunity to gain real insight into the day-to-day work of an HR team.
  • Collaborated with human resources in the recruitment and selection of new security personnel.

Catering Staff

Lou Burns Catering
03.2024 - 08.2025
  • Working 6-hour shifts at a time for events such as dinner parties and weddings. The role includes serving drinks and food efficiently and ensuring that the guests are happy. Setting up and packing up within a certain time slot created an element of time pressure, which I felt I worked well with. Clear communication is vital between my colleagues and me during the shift to ensure smoothness and a methodical approach.

Capital Markets Analyst

Knight Frank
08.2024 - 08.2024
  • I had the privilege of working alongside the Knight Frank Capital Markets team for 5 days. This experience gave me an understanding of advising investors, developers, and owners on the acquisition of multi-sector commercial real estate in the UK and internationally.

Real Estste

Blackstone
London
08.2024 - 08.2024
  • I spent 5 days with the Blackstone Revantage Real Estate team for a week with a particular focus on Asset Management. This involved visiting a few of their high-profile assets across London, whilst assisting the team in reviewing various assets. The work experience taught me about the importance of communication, particularly with clients, alongside due diligence by ensuring that, before a commitment is made, every detail has been investigated.

Volunteering

St Elizabeth Hospice
Hadleigh
08.2023 - 03.2024
  • The role included sorting clothes, toys, DVDs and home accessories in 3 hour shifts at a time. Organisation skills are key and ensuring the correct things are sorted, ready to be sent to the next charity for reselling. I learnt how appreciative the workers were for our help as I took time out of my day to support a non-profit organisation.

Volunteer

Opolagilagi and Ositeti Primary School
Masai Mara
05.2024
  • During half term, we spent 2 weeks out in the Masai Mara Community whilst volunteering and teaching at the two local schools. Duke of Edinburgh - Bronze, Silver and Gold, October 2021 – June 2024, The Bronze, Silver and Gold expeditions include walking for a various distance per day across rocky and uneven terrain, putting up tents and living off expedition meals. Overall, the Gold expedition was the toughest as it had the longest number of hours of walking and the most challenging terrain over the 5 days in the Yorkshire Dales. As a group, we had to regularly communicate and problem-solve. Overall, I developed my resilience and drive because I had too push myself beyond what I thought I was capable of, which makes me feel extremely proud for achieving this award., July 2023, RYA Competent Crew 5 Day Sailing Course, The sailing course, which took place along the Hambie down in Portsmouth, was a tough 5-day course in harsh conditions. We ate, slept and cooked all on the boat, with 6 crew in total, including our skipper. We learnt valuable skills such as parts of the boat, sail handling, man overboard, ropework and fire precautions. This tested our physical and mental resilience but was an incredible overall experience.
