Work history

Kitchen assistant

Berkeley Care Group
Bromsgrove, Worcestershire
2025.11 - Current

Shortly after I had finished my course at university the obvious path was to look for a graduate job and try to advance my career in a more commercial industry. When looking for this type of job I realised I had been in education for all of my life and had never had a job where I had to physically, mentally and socially challenge myself. This is when I changed my outlook and started looking for a job that would throw me into consistent face to face interaction with co-workers and the public. The care industry has taught me how to deal with crisis situations and how to have patience in the face of all challenges big and small.

Personal summary

Positivity and enthusiasm are qualities I pride myself on. Every professional or academic challenge I have put in front of me I do my best to approach it with excitement instead of rigidness. Working in the care industry especially with residents suffering with dementia has taught me to problem solve in stressful situations and turn bad situations in to positive outcomes. In a kitchen reaching deadlines is essential and is something I have had to hone my skills to abide by.

Affiliations

  • Cooking and catering is a passion of mine, designing and pulling together creative meals for my dad and sister each evening has allowed me to research food and have a better knowledge on the topic of catering as a whole
  • Season Ticket Holder at Birmingham City Football Club for the last four years- showcasing consistency and commitment in the most adverse of situations.
  • Tennis is a big part of my life, attending tournaments and playing on a regular basis is one of my favourite pass times. As well as playing tennis I also enjoy playing casual golf. In terms of my golfing ability the word casual has never been more accurately used.
  • Fishing in my local river is an activity I cherish. Being brought up in rural Wales has created opportunities to enjoy unique activities such as fishing and when I travel back home these hobbies create a great sense of nostalgia.
