This is a part-time role in which training takes place a few weekends a month, and on Tuesday evenings. It's always been a dream of mine to join the Marines, and since finding out about the reserve pathway, it has allowed me to do that and pursue a full-time career. This allows me to become a marine without affecting this apprenticeship. The training involves a lot of physical activity, combat training, and much more. This has really developed my skills, such as a high level of fitness, teamwork, discipline, and organisation.
This voluntary role involved selling poppy products, collecting donations for the poppy appeal, and preparing for Remembrance. It allowed me to interact with the public and raise money for an amazing cause.
This work experience was a week-long course at a training camp in Staffordshire. It involved military-style training with strangers from different schools. We took part in team-building activities like orienteering and problem-solving. Although this placement was with the Army, I believe this work experience is useful to many other industries.
