Projects and Initiatives

  • Theatres Preceptorship Program Co-initiated and contributed to the department's local preceptorship program tailored to theatre practitioners and support workers new to the perioperative environment in collaboration with the Theatres Practice Education Team.
  • Safe handling of Mitomycin-C for post-operative care Co-initiated the re-evaluation of Mitomycin-C handling protocols and implementation of additional safety measures for theatre and recovery staff looking after patients post-TUR with Mitomycin-C instillation.
  • Surgical Procedure Learning Manual Co-initiated the update of surgeons' preference sheets to keep up with current practice and use of up-to-date surgical devices, technology, and including step-by-step guide of critical surgical procedures.
  • Simplified Urology Set-up Guide Initiated reform of set-up guide for urology procedures. This project minimized unnecessary redundancy of surgeons' preference lists. It was initially aimed towards staff unfamiliar with urology to provide support and to safely and efficiently carry out a urology list. Seasoned members of the department also utilize the guide in supporting students and learners over time.
  • Electronic Surgeons' Preference Organized, launched, and maintain an online portal containing surgeons' preference lists in collaboration with other specialty leads. Printable copies of standard forms used by the department were added over time. This project improved work efficiency, accessibility, and compliance to the standard practices of the department.
  • Electronic Hearing Test Reporting Collaborated with IT Clinical Reporting to ensure different hearing assessment reports are available on the hospital's e-reporting system, improving accessibility to test results and overall improving patient experience.
  • Facilities Renovation and Service Development Initiated, managed, and coordinated the renovation of the hearing assessment, intervention, and rehabilitation facilities and services. This paved the way to the introduction of new diagnostic services, modernized facilities, improved referral system across different multidisciplinary teams, improved patient satisfaction, and increase in overall revenue of the department with the introduction of hearing aid fitting and aftercare services.
