Summary

I like to be called Cathy , at the present time I work on the stroke unit at St Marys hospital as a health care assistant . I assist patients with washing dressing feeding and drinking some of my patient have to have there fluids made thicker to help there swallowing or meals that are different levels so they are able to swallow them , we also have an hyper acute unit where I work some times when a stroke patient comes in at first for close supervision.

I like to spend time communicating with my patients as some of them struggle with there speech or can talk at all but you can always find a way.

I have 39 years work with the NHS 10 of those were working with learning disability's in the community and the rest of the time was at St Marys hospital starting on Rookwood ward then Gatcombe ward then the stroke unit where I am know the other wards were rehabilitation wards to get patients back on there feet again after surgery .

I also have my NVQ 2 health and social care.

I have also under taken a toenail cutting coures done by podiatry which i have been doing for about 10 years now
