I submitted my PhD thesis in January 2024, and the four years that I have spent conducting my research has given me valuable experience in the gathering and interpretation of data. My thesis focuses on an interesting, yet controversial character from the Irish Revolution, Liam Tobin, and as such much of the source material that I have been working with has been problematic and inconsistent. Therefore, my research has involved an extensive amount of cross referencing and an examination of a variety of different sources.
Due to the volume of sources required for PhD research I have become highly organised with regards to the categorising and the storage of the data collected. I am enthusiastic about both independent and group research, as I understand the need for time committed to tasks such as writing reports on research progresses, while also appreciating the value that collaboration can have on the outcome and presentation of research.
