I was born and raised in South Africa, where I experienced a wide variety of cultures and traditions. I saw many examples of exclusion and being raised by open minded individuals who encouraged nothing but positivity and taught me to stand up for myself and others. I realised the importance of including everyone, finding out what their interests and values are, and helping them reach those dreams and aspirations.
I moved to the UK soon after matriculating high school where I quickly realised I had an innate ability to connect with people. I graduated from Heriot Watt University where I obtained my BSc degree in Biological Science (Marine Biology) and currently work as an aquarium technician for the fish pathology unit within the same University.
My current position has allowed me to gain a great deal of experience working within a category 2 laboratory, assisting with procedures such as inoculating and ensuring vaccine efficiency in the rainbow trout. This often means having to make difficult decisions when dealing with livestock.
My career aspirations are to secure permanent role that is directly involved in developing strategies and solutions. I would also like the opportunity to work alongside others who share the same enthusiasm for learning and communicating as I do.
Yours sincerely
Caroline
