• Giving personal care to patients, maintained dignity and respect at all times. As I work in rehabilitation its important to encourage patients to achieve some independence and help them with exercises, attending appointments and exercises groups.

Whilst still working in my hairdressing role I cared for a previous partner who had primary progressive ms and complex wounds and left my hairdressing role to do this full time. The care I provided was predominantly personal care including changing convenes, moving and handling using a hoist from the bed to wheelchair, bed washing, helping to attend appointments, stays in hospital so i could still give the care that was needed, exercises with his legs to help with his ms , emotional support, being included in any changes of medications, adaptations the the house including wet room and a ceiling track hoist. In this role i also worked with district nurses to maintain wounds effectively and report to them if there was any changes as well as doing observations daily.
