  • I shadowed Mr. Paul Jarvis KC, Senior Treasury Counsel, at Southwark Crown Court. Mr Jarvis was prosecuting an individual for sending "grossly offensive" messages to leading UK political figures.
  • I then shadowed Mr. Louis Mably KC in Southwark Crown Court. Mr. Mably was lead prosecutor in a high-profile multi-handed murder trial involving four defendants.

  • I shadowed Ms. Grace Bowland, who was prosecuting an affray involving a machete knife in a Crown Court trial sitting at Hendon Magistrates Court.

Mini-Pupillage

2 Bedford Row
07.2024 - 07.2024
  • I shadowed Ms Emma Kutner, acting as led junior in a 4-month pension fraud trial at Wood Green Crown Court. Ms Kutner's client was charged with conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation and was the only defendant (of 4) to be acquitted.

Mini-Pupillage

3 Raymond Buildings

  • I shadowed Trevor Burke KC for a week at Woolwich Crown Court, acting as defence counsel to charges of murder.

Mini-Pupillage

Church Court Chambers
03.2024 - 03.2024
  • I shadowed Lewis Power KC in the Central Criminal Court, acting as defence counsel to charges of murder.
  • I then shadowed Elroy Claxton in Wood Green Crown Court, representing a client charged with rape and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. I prepared notes for Mr. Claxton on his cross-examination in the absence of his instructing solicitor.

Mini-Pupillage

2 Hare Court
01.2024 - 01.2024
  • I shadowed two senior barristers at Winchester Crown Court for a week: David Whittaker KC and Lewis Power KC. It was an educative first experience of the criminal Bar as I witnessed a successful defence of insanity to charges of attempted murder and GBH.

Legal Researcher

3 Bolt Court Chambers
12.2023 - 04.2024
  • I worked on a part-time paid basis to help fund my studies and gain practical experience in civil law. I conducted in-depth legal research and case analysis for a barrister at 3 Bolt Court Chambers. I was soon required to draft skeleton arguments and prepare trial bundles under the barrister's supervision, in addition to proof-reading court document.
  • The cases ranged from defending against bankruptcy proceedings to property possession claims. Although I am now inclined to pursue a career in the practice area of crime, the skills I developed over the four months certainly enhanced my written advocacy, drafting skills, and my ability to conduct legal research effectively.

Legal Aid Volunteer

BPP Pro-bono Centre
11.2023 - 02.2024
  • I volunteered on a weekly basis to help the North Kensington Law Centre with applications for legal aid in relation to various housing issues including: homelessness, eviction, rent arrears, and neighbour disputes.
  • I was required to perform a legal triage, calling clients and guiding them through the relevant forms in order to establish the nature of their application. I obtained initial details of the case to ascertain the urgency and complexity of the matter, before explaining the processes through which their legal issues might be resolved. Where the problem fell within the scope of legal aid, I was required to undertake a financial eligibility check using a simple computer program. The work often required difficult and frank conversations with vulnerable or desperate clients.

Work Experience

Warner Bros.
02.2024 - 02.2025
  • I joined the International TV distribution legal team for a week. Gained insights into the commercial and contractual deals which determine the worldwide distribution of Warner Bros' intellectual property and licensing content.
