Training Support assistant

Ableworld
Stapley, Cheshire
2022.04 - Current

Currently I work at Ableworld Head office, here I have been helping the company improve the training and skills of the staff across the country in multiple different aspects of the company. This includes liaising with other departments to determine which procedures need improving.

The main role of my job includes training on the system we use and provide personalized training programs to enhance performance. I did this one to one with staff and did regular group training sessions, I found this to be a great way of improving the confidence of our staff as well as their knowledge.

I maintained great professional relationships with all staff which helped in my role as when any issues arose with staff they were handled efficiently, staff called or emailed for any issues and i took the correct steps to ensure any problems were resolved.

Main duties of my job have been to ensure all online e-learning is completed by all members of staff and setting up new courses and new staff. I also made sure updated training were being properly enforced, I was involved in many meetings on how to improve the systems we use and travelled frequently to ensure Store managers, Regional managers and Store staff are handling their workload correctly.

Teaching assistant in secondary schools

Sir William Stanier High School
Crewe, Cheshire East
2022.09 - 2023.04

At Sir William Stanier I provided assistance to the teacher in supporting students to a group aging in ranges from 11-16 that needed extra support in learning or behavior. This includes ensuring a safe classroom environment and provided one-to-one support to students and enhancing their understanding of the course material. I worked with a lot of SEN pupils so I helped support them and provide inclusive learning and adapted different teaching techniques to cater to the varied needs.

What i enjoyed most about this job was that I was helping encourage students to the best of the ability and the feeling of knowing the help i provided was making a positive difference in their academic journey.

Teacher in a primary school

Beechwood Primary School
Crewe, Cheshire East
2021.11 - 2022.06

Here I worked as a Teaching Assistant and a one-to-one teacher for children that need extra help or have SEN pupils and pupils with behavioural difficulties. I had worked with Year 2 children primarily aged between 6-8. My main responsibilities were coming up with fun lessons for my small group of children to teach and support them in Maths and English, for this I had to be patient with them and helping them every way I could as well as understanding which method was best for each child to learn. Alongside this I was also a teaching assistant helping the teachers be prepared for lessons as well as go around and helping every child. While working here I felt so fulfilled knowing how much of an impact I was making on the pupil’s lives, whether that be teaching them something new, playing with them and having fun with them. During the seven months of working here I had also experienced a few safeguarding issues I picked up upon and handled them correctly filling out ‘CPOMS’ reports and going straight to the safeguarding management team or headteacher which I also got praised on for noticing these concerns and handling them professionally and promptly. I enjoyed working in a school so much and would love another rewarding job such as this.

Waitress

Miller and Carter
Crewe, Cheshire East
2018.11 - 2021.09

I worked at Miller and Carter Steakhouse in Crewe and had done for over 2 years. Here I worked as a waitress and had experience of bar work and hosting. During this time I had learnt how to work as a team to make sure our guests have an amazing experience dining with us. I have taken orders, delivered amazing service and got along with all my co-workers. As well as learning how to manage my time which is key to this job as well as customer service, I also work well under pressure. To ensure the smooth running of the restaurant I am very flexible, I often take the busiest shifts and cover for colleagues who are unable work their own shifts. I am enormously proud that the management specifically requested that I manage the largest parties and the most challenging sections, demonstrating my competence and ability to perform well under pressure. I have also shown my ability to overcome challenges by easily adapting to new working practices, in order to ensure safety for myself and guests during the Covid 19 outbreak. Although I loved my job and I have learnt so much I am looking for a new opportunity with new challenges as I would relish the opportunity to widen my skillset.

Waitress

Bench Bistro Bar
Nantwich, Cheshire East
2018.09 - 2018.11

I worked as a Waitress at Bench Bistro and Bar in Nantwich when it first opened as a new business. It was my first time working in this kind of industry and I developed waitressing skills and knowledge such as taking food orders, handling money and providing good customer service which ensured guests enjoyed their experience. Although I enjoyed working there I needed more hours and shifts so I applied the new knowledge I had developed and successfully gained a full time job with a national restaurant chain.

Claims administrator

Brightstar
Crewe, Cheshire East
2018.06 - 2018.08

Once I had finished college I was eager to get a job again so I started working at BrightStar as a Claims Administrator in Crewe. Here I had learnt how to manage customer accounts over the phone whilst providing good customer service and making sure all account details were amended accurately using a range of software packages. I also communicated with logistics companies and set up insurance policies for customers. In addition to this I demonstrated my ability to communicate with both customers and fellow employees via email. During my time there I learnt to communicate effectively and efficiently on the phone and demonstrated strong organisation skills which were essential when taking notes and managing customer information. I also developed strong interpersonal skills such as adapting my tone of voice and ensured effective conversations by reading the tone of the customer’s voice. As a result I learned a great deal in this post but decided to leave in order to find a more creative working environment.

Crew member

McDonalds
Crewe, Cheshire East
2016.05 - 2017.06

My first job was working as a Crew Member in McDonalds. I was 16 at the time and eager to start working after my school exams. In this position I worked on this till, prepared food orders and ensured customer satisfaction. I also gained my first food hygiene certificate. As a result of working here I experienced working in a fast paced and high pressure environment, as well as working with customers. However while working here I learnt key valuable skills such as communication, team work, money handling and customer service. I also demonstrated excellent punctuality and attendance. I used these skills as a foundation which I used in later posts to build on further. This job ended when the branch in Crewe town centre McDonalds was closed down so instead of transferring to another branch, I decided to focus on my college work.
